Yemi Kale

Statistician-General of the Federation, National Bureau of Statistics (NBS)

Yemi Kale assumed office as Statistician-General in 2011 and was reappointed in 2016, making him the first chief executive in the agency’s history to serve two terms. Before assuming office, Kale worked as special adviser to the Nigerian Minister of Finance and Minister of National Planning as well as group head of research and strategy at Investment Banking and Trust Company, now Stanbic IBTC Bank. He has facilitated several reforms in data process in Nigeria.

Kale graduated with a Bachelor of Science (first-class honours) in Economics from Addis Ababa University. He also holds a Master of Science (with distinction) as well as a doctorate degree in Economics from the London School of Economics and Political Science. He is a member of the World Economics Association, UK Royal Economic Society, UK Royal Statistical Society, and the Nigerian Statistical Association among others. He is also an alumnus of the Harvard Kennedy School of Government.
